Saffery Champness has announced the promotion of Sinead McHugh to partner in the firm’s Dublin office, focused on the Film and TV industry in Ireland.
Sinead has been advising clients in the media and creative sector for 10 years, and is a member of Saffery Champness’ Film and Television Group having joined the firm in 2010. She specialises in advice relating to film and tv production financing and tax reliefs.
Her clients include the full spectrum of industry organisations, from small independent film and television production companies, to major international film studios and broadcasters looking to structure their production across multiple territories. Sinead advises clients on how to manage the tax implications of complex multijurisdictional productions.
Sinead joins John Gleeson as the second partner to be based in Ireland, with John having joined the firm in April to head up Saffery Champness’ offering in Dublin.
“It’s a real pleasure to welcome Sinead to the Saffery Champness partnership and her success is a testament to the growth and development of our practice here in Dublin. It is a challenging time for the film and television industry at the moment, with significant pressures resulting from Covid-19, not least availability of funding and access to Section 481 tax credits. But there is also huge amounts of talent and ambition seeking to get production moving, and we are well placed to continue to support the industry as it embarks on the road to recovery post-coronavirus.”
