Kris Young

Kris manages an extensive, diverse portfolio of clients within the Inverness office, which ranges from personal tax clients including wealthy individuals, partnerships, trusts and owner managed businesses.

Her client portfolio spans a wide range of sectors including landed estates and agricultural businesses, hospitality and tourism, retail, manufacturing, and renewables.

Tax compliance is a huge part of her role. This also includes a wide range of compliance-related advisory matters, such as advising on capital allowances, the tax treatment of particular income streams, tax-efficient profit extraction, and dealing with HMRC on various matters.

She is a member of the Saffery Renewables Group and she is also part of the firm’s Land and Rural Practice Group.


Key experience

  • Providing advice on different business structures including sole trade businesses, partnerships, LLPs and family managed corporate structures
  • Advising on the incorporation of sole trade and/or partnership businesses
  • Providing succession planning including inheritance tax planning
  • Advising on trust distributions in relation to income or capital distributions and dealing with the necessary inheritance tax forms.

Interests

Kris lives with her partner, daughter and a dog in the Highlands of Scotland.  When not working Kris is passionate about running and going to the gym and is a regular half marathon runner. She also took on her first full marathon in 2024.

Kris also spends a lot of time finding new places to walk her dog!  Kris is on the Youth Committee of her local football club and assists in a financial capacity as well as being a first aider for the youth teams whilst also enjoying going to the games as a fan.
