Ying is a private client tax specialist who advises international high net worth individuals on their UK tax affairs, estate and succession planning.
Ying joined Saffery in 2017, having previously trained with a Big 4 firm in London. She has completed the Association of Tax Technicians (ATT) qualification and is a Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA). She is also an affiliate member of STEP, following the completion of the Advanced Certificate in UK tax for international clients in which she obtained a distinction.
Key experience
- Tax planning for international clients who are arriving or leaving the UK, including appropriate planning prior to their arrival and reviewing offshore structures,
- Advising former users of the remittance basis of taxation, including in respect of remittances of historic income and capital gains,
- Advising on the implications of purchasing, holding and disposing of UK residential property, and winding up structures holding UK residential property,
- Assisting clients in bringing their UK tax compliance up-to-date, including disclosing past non-compliance to HM Revenue & Customs, and
- Working with advisers in overseas jurisdictions to provide comprehensive advice that considers the client’s worldwide tax position,
- Advising individuals on the tax implications of marriage and divorce, including assisting in the provision of single joint expert evidence in divorce proceedings.
Interests
Ying is married with two young children. Outside of work, Ying she enjoys taking her children travelling and introducing them to new experiences and cultures; she hopes to take them backpacking one day.
