James is Tax Advisor in our Bristol office and leads our Personal Tax Compliance team in Bristol.
He works closely with a broad range of clients supporting them with their personal tax affairs, with a particular focus on high-net-worth individuals and those with overseas interests and residence queries.
James joined Saffery in 2025 from a Big 4 firm where he had a focus on global mobility and internationally mobile executives.
Key experience
- Providing UK tax compliance services, including complex tax returns for individuals.
- Advising individuals on their UK tax residence status, including those arriving in the UK and leaving the UK.
- Advising individuals who were previously not domiciled in the UK, utilising the remittance basis, and the impact of the foreign income and gains regime.
- Advising individuals on capital gains tax matters.
- Supporting employers, and their employees, with structuring and managing tax compliance for cross-border working.
- Handling HMRC enquiries and supporting individuals in correspondence with HMRC.
Interests
James is married with two young children and lives in Bristol. He is a keen sports fan and has recently taken up Padel but will happily get involved in any sport.
