Akash specialises in employment tax compliance and advisory, with expertise in share schemes, employee share planning, executive remuneration, global mobility, and off-payroll working.
Alongside his employment tax work, he has experience advising high-net-worth individuals on personal tax matters including non-domicile planning, capital gains tax and complex income tax returns.
He works with a broad range of clients including owner-managed businesses, corporates and private individuals, providing practical advice.
Akash joined Saffery in 2026. Prior to that, he spent five years as an in-house tax lead at a global management consultancy where he held operational and advisory responsibility for a £1.4bn employee-owned share equity portfolio and the firm’s Employee Benefit Trust. He advised the CEO and Remuneration Committee on share allocation, leaver provisions, and remuneration strategy, and led the employment tax and share scheme workstreams on major cross-border acquisition.
He has also worked in private practice advising employer and private clients across professional services, technology and financial services.

- Advising on share scheme and employee share planning, including EMI, CSOP, SAYE, and unapproved arrangements,
- Managing Employee Benefit Trusts (EBTs) including compliance, reporting and integration with wider share plan strategy,
- Advising on employment status and off-payroll working (IR35), including status determinations, contractor risk management and HMRC enquiry support,
- Leading employment tax and share scheme due diligence and post-acquisition integration on M&A transactions.
Interests
Akash is currently relearning to play the piano and enjoys travelling and experiencing different cultures. He is also a treasurer for a national charity.
