Saffery Champness is pleased to announce the appointment of Gareth Norris as a partner in its Peterborough office.

Gareth joins the firm from Grant Thornton where he was a director and responsible individual (RI) within the audit practice and a leader of the national Not-for-Profit Team.

Since qualifying in 2007, Gareth has provided audit and accounting services to clients across a wide range of industries and sectors, including landed estates and agriculture, food & beverage, construction & real estate, as well as not-for-profit organisations from national charities to membership organisations, independent schools and academy trusts.

FCA-qualified, Gareth’s expertise covers accounts preparation, internal and external audit, and reviews of internal controls. He has been leading audit engagements as an RI since 2016.

At Saffery Champness, Gareth will work with the Peterborough team to provide audit, accounting and advisory services to the firm’s unique client base, which includes entrepreneurial businesses, landed estates and not-for-profit organisations. Gareth will focus on owner-managed corporate businesses and not-for-profit organisations.

Gareth is fluent in French and in his spare time is active on the boards of various local village groups and organisations.

Matthew Burton, Managing Partner of Saffery Champness, comments:

“Gareth has an outstanding track record of advising clients through the constantly evolving and ever-more complex reporting landscape.

“His arrival represents another milestone in what has been a period of growth for the Peterborough office over recent years, reflecting both the talent and diligence of our team, and the growing economic significance of the region, which continues to see heavy investment – both domestic and foreign – and dynamic entrepreneurial activity.

“We look forward to Gareth bringing his expertise to bear for our clients in both the commercial and not-for-profit sectors. We are delighted to have him on the team.”

Gareth Norris added:

“Saffery Champness has an enduring reputation for depth of expertise and commitment to client service, both of which are clearly embedded in the culture and of the Peterborough office. I am passionate about delivering exceptional client service and excited to work in partnership with my new colleagues to provide cutting-edge solutions for our clients, which include a significant number of innovative, entrepreneurial businesses.”
