Saffery Champness Registered Fiduciaries has today announced the appointment of Dr Yumei Zhang as a client director in the firm’s Geneva office.
Yumei brings with her nearly 20 years’ experience in the private client, trusts and wider finance industry, specialising in advising clients originating from Asia Pacific with complex multi-jurisdictional requirements including either assets or beneficiaries in the US and Europe.
Yumei joins Saffery Champness from a wealth management firm in Hong Kong, where she was Head of Private Clients for Greater China. In her role at Saffery Champness, Yumei will join a strong team focused on Asia Pacific and will play a central role in continuing to develop and serve the firm’s growing client base of HNWIs and their families based in the region, especially those with a Chinese connection.
Yumei has been an active member of the China Subcommittee of STEP Hong Kong, was a member of the Executive Committee of STEP Hong Kong and Co-Chair of STEP Hong Kong’s Wills and Estate Subcommittee.
Paul Tucknott, Managing Director of Saffery Champness (Suisse) S.A, said:
“On behalf of everyone at the firm I would like to warmly welcome Yumei to Saffery Champness in Switzerland and I am very excited by everything she will bring to the team. Over recent years, we have seen significant growth from our clients in the APAC region, including mainland China where the population of wealthy individuals has increased dramatically in the past decade and the need for structuring of that wealth is more important than ever.
Switzerland, with its stability, globally renowned financial system and a strong eco-system of trust and wealth planning professionals, remains the jurisdiction of choice for management of wealth and assets, as well as philanthropic or charitable activities. We look forward to working with Yumei, who brings a real depth of expertise and cultural understanding to our team specialising in the APAC region.”
Yumei Zhang, Client Director at Saffery Champness Registered Fiduciaries, added:
“Saffery Champness is well known for its heritage and pedigree in advising internationally mobile high net worth individuals and providing the very best fiduciary services and advice to its clients. I have seen first-hand the trend in China, Hong Kong and across the wider APAC region of clients looking to Switzerland as a place to do business, and as a gateway jurisdiction to enable mobility to other destinations, such as the US, for family, educational, or lifestyle reasons. For these reasons, I am excited to be joining the team and to helping plan and enact suitable strategies for our clients both current and new.”
