Saffery Trust has announced the appointment of Claire Bufton as Senior Finance Manager in the firm’s Guernsey office.

Claire, a Guernsey local, will supervise the client accounting team in the office, as well as assist the finance director in management of the firm’s ongoing internal financial reporting and co-ordination of the Guernsey based annual financial statement audit processes.

Claire’s significant experience working across multiple accounting systems in various industries will allow her to contribute to firmwide strategy, policies and budgets as well as lead the transition of client and internal accounting onto the firm’s new, specialist client relationship management software.

Claire’s appointment marks her return to Saffery Trust having previously held the role of Senior Audit Manager, prior to the firm’s divestment of its audit business in 2020 to focus on their core offering.

Nick Batiste, Managing Director of Saffery Trust in Guernsey, said:

“It gives me great pleasure to welcome Claire back to Saffery Trust in her new role. Claire’s extensive knowledge and experience of client-side accounting and audit make her a valuable asset to our finance team, with her unique perspective hugely benefiting both our clients and our business and its forward strategy. We are hugely looking forward to having Claire back as part of the team and continuing to grow the business with her on board.”

Claire Bufton, Senior Finance Manager at Saffery Trust, added:

“After having previously spent nearly ten years of my professional life with Saffery Trust, I am very pleased to be re-joining my former colleagues in this new phase of my career. Having spent the past fifteen years in client-facing audit, I am excited to be starting a new chapter with the firm. I look forward to working closely with the team and harnessing my experience to help us to grow as a firm and ensure we continue to offer the very best service to our clients.”
