STEP Cayman launches Next Gen Committee with support of Saffery Trust

The Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) Cayman has announced the launch of its Next Gen Committee, a dynamic initiative aimed at engaging and supporting the next generation of Caymanian industry professionals.

The Committee, which is the second of its kind to launch globally, has been sponsored by Saffery Trust, a STEP Platinum Employer. The Committee will provide a platform for young and junior practitioners to connect, learn, and grow within the industry.

Through a series of educational events, networking opportunities, and other programs, the Committee aims to empower emerging leaders, equipping them with the knowledge and skills necessary for success in the ever-evolving landscape of trust and estate planning.

The Next Gen Committee will sit under the existing STEP Cayman Council, established in 1997. Council member James Long has been appointed as Chair of the Next Gen Committee.

“The launch of the Next Gen subcommittee marked a significant milestone for the trust industry in Cayman. One of our priorities will be to identify Caymanian future leaders, and to run educational programmes to help promote the fiduciary industry as a first-choice career.

“There is a wealth of talent amongst young Caymanians. The role of the Next Gen Committee will be to nurture that talent and support young professionals in attaining qualifications and shaping rewarding and successful careers as trust and estate practitioners.”

Saffery Trust Associate Director and STEP Cayman Next Gen Committee member, Donna Brehaut, added:

“At Saffery Trust, we recognise the importance of nurturing emerging talent within the wealth industry. Our commitment to supporting opportunity and enabling success aligns closely with the aims of the Next Gen Committee.

“Since Saffery Trust first established a foothold in the Cayman Islands in 2020, we have remained dedicated to investing in the jurisdiction, and we are proud to support the industry’s future leaders in the region.”

The Cayman STEP Next Gen Committee will be hosting a launch event on Thursday 21 March for current and prospective students, STEP members and key stakeholders interested in STEP.
