Cheryl joined Saffery Film and TV team in 2018 as part of a move to London, having qualified at a small firm back in Aberdeen (Scotland).
She is experienced in advising clients in all aspects of statutory reporting, financing, corporate tax compliance, and has a specific expertise in accessing the creative sector tax reliefs in the UK.
Cheryl works with a wide range of clients, from small independent film and television production companies to large UK television broadcasters. She is also experienced in providing services to animation studios, video game developers and commissioning and distribution companies.
Key experience
- Advising film, television and video games producers on how to access UK creative industry tax incentives: the UK’s tax relief and the new Audio-Visual Expenditure Credit (AVEC) and Video Games Expenditure Credit (VGEC),
- Evaluating budgeted production expenditure for qualification of UK creative industry tax relief,
- Advising on BFI Cultural Test qualification and assisting with the submissions process,
- Providing opinion letters for financiers,
- Assisting clients with their corporate reporting needs, including audit, accounts preparation and tax compliance.
Interests
Cheryl likes most sports but in particular football – both playing and watching. She also enjoys running, reading and spending time with friends, family (and more importantly her dog!).
