Guy Walford

Guy is a Valuations Director in the firm’s London office.

He has more than eight years’ experience advising on valuations for contentious, commercial, financial reporting and tax purposes.

Guy works with a wide range of clients, including corporates, shareholders, trustees and advisers, providing clear and practical valuation advice across a variety of sectors and asset classes. His experience spans shares, loan notes, intellectual property and other complex securities, often in high‑value or sensitive situations.

Before joining Saffery, Guy was an Associate Director in EY’s Valuations Advisory team in London. He has also held specialist valuation roles at S&W, BDO and Buzzacott.

  • Discount rates and impairment testing for financial reporting purposes,
  • Purchase Price Allocations under IFRS 3 and FRS 102, for financial reporting purposes,
  • Share option valuations (using Black Scholes as well as Monte Carlo and binomial option-pricing models) for financial reporting purposes,
  • Portfolio valuations of private equity and venture capital fund investments for financial reporting purposes,
  • Commercial valuations of businesses ahead of potential M&A transactions,
  • Commercial valuations for departing shareholders in private businesses,
  • Valuations of shares to support divestment into Employee Ownership Trusts.

Interests

Outside work, Guy enjoys cooking, persevering with modernist literary “classics”, and watching any sport in which England show promise before failing to meet expectations.
