Josie is a Director in the International Private Client tax team in London. She specialises in advising high-net-worth individuals on their UK tax affairs and structuring their wealth in a tax-efficient manner.
Josie works with clients whose interests span multiple jurisdictions and has extensive experience advising international families, large family offices and offshore trustees. She also advises entrepreneurs and owner-managed businesses on both personal and corporate tax matters, including the availability of business reliefs.
Josie joined Saffery in November 2022. She is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales (ICAEW) and the Chartered Institute of Taxation (CIOT).
Key experience
- Advising individuals on their UK tax residence status under the Statutory Residence Test and their exposure to UK tax, including the availability of the foreign income and gains regime,
- Providing strategic pre-arrival and departure tax planning, reviewing offshore structures, and advising on bank account segregation,
- Supporting former remittance basis users, including advice on the Temporary Repatriation Facility and other transitional reliefs,
- Advising on the acquisition, holding and disposal of UK residential and commercial property, including advice on de-enveloping residential property,
- Supporting entrepreneurs and owner-managed businesses at every stage of their growth, including planning for tax-efficient exits,
- Advising families with estate and succession planning, including the use of trusts and family investment companies and the availability of relevant reliefs,
- Assisting clients in bringing their UK tax affairs up to date, including disclosures of historic non-compliance to HM Revenue & Customs,
- Working closely with advisers in overseas jurisdictions to deliver coordinated advice across clients’ global affairs.
Interests
Josie is a keen runner, swimmer and cyclist and enjoys competing in triathlons. She also enjoys painting and sketching portraits in her spare time.
