Ross Tracey

Ross is a private client tax specialist, experienced in the provision of advisory and compliance services to high-net-worth individuals.

Operating from our Manchester office, Ross advises a wide range of clients from internationally renowned footballers, premier league managers and rugby players, to owners of landed estate and their associated enterprises. In particular, Ross advises on complex personal tax matters, succession and inheritance tax planning, taxation of trusts and estates, HMRC investigations and the taxation of UK resident and non-domiciles.

Ross joined Saffery in 2015. He is a Chartered Tax Adviser and a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP). He also sits on the firm’s internal knowledge-sharing discussion group, which meets quarterly to discuss topical tax and commercial issues affecting clients owning rural businesses.


Key experience

  • The mitigation of UK income tax, capital gains tax and inheritance tax liabilities during lifetime and on death, including advising on the availability of tax reliefs and succession planning,
  • Providing advice on the creation, ongoing taxation and termination of tax planning structures, including UK trusts and family investment companies,
  • Advising professional footballers and athletes on their personal tax affairs, including overseeing the completion of their tax returns, advice on image rights and the taxation of intermediary/agent fees,
  • UK tax planning for international clients, advising on their domicile status, the Statutory Residence Test, Double Taxation Treaties and the remittance basis,
  • Assisting clients with HMRC enquiries and investigations.

Interests

Ross lives on the border of Chester and North-Wales with his wife, two daughters and their cockapoo. Outside of spending time with his family, Ross is keen on all sports, but especially football, NBA basketball and boxing. He is also a keen runner and enjoys travel and socialising.
