Tim Gillett

Tim is a Director in the tax team in our London office focussing on personal tax.

He has extensive experience across multiple business sectors and as well as dealing with tax compliance matters he regularly advises in connection with HM Revenue & Customs’ enquiries, settlements and disclosures. In recent years this has included assisting with the settlement of enquiries into various historic tax planning strategies.

In addition Tim is part of the firm’s film and television advisory group providing advice to behind camera individuals and production entities often involving international mobility issues.

Since joining Saffery in 2014 Tim has been involved in the preparation of tax reports in relation to complex divorce cases. This experience has included being called to give oral evidence at the High Court in connection with the tax implications of the transfer of properties between the separating couple.

Tim is a contributor to the firm’s client publications and presents at various forums internally and externally, most recently at the Resolution annual conference in 2017.

  • Assisting clients with HM Revenue & Customs’ enquiries, settlements and disclosures,
  • Preparing expert witness tax reports for use in divorce and financial proceedings,
  • Providing advice on UK tax issues to film and television production companies and behind camera individuals in relation to international assignments,
  • Advising non-UK domiciled individuals in relation to personal taxation.

Interests

Tim’s principal interest is music and as an oboist, organist and keyboard player he regularly plays in church and with various orchestras. He also enjoys cycling and walking and generally spending time with his wife and young daughter.
