This guide is designed to support you in using GenAI as a supportive tool throughout the application process.
1. Creating your CV
GenAI can provide CV templates and formatting.
- Make sure to personalise your CV by highlighting your individual achievements, qualifications, and experiences. Avoid relying on GenAI initially, as it may not accurately reflect your unique accomplishments. Don’t worry about what GenAI suggests you should have done and instead, use it to help structure and articulate your own story more clearly.
- Avoid generic descriptions and instead, use your own words to clearly communicate your unique value and the impact you’ve made in previous roles or experiences. This personal touch will make your CV more authentic.
2. Online Application form
Enhance your narrative during motivational questions. Use GenAI to come up with ideas and structure your thoughts. We do not accept responses generated by GenAI tools verbatim. We want to hear your personal journey, motivations, and authentic voice in your answers. Be prepared to talk about this in more detail at later stages of the process.
Examples:
- Reflect on what matters to you in a workplace. Consider aspects such as company culture, awards and recognition, benefits package, working environment, corporate social responsibility (CSR), and equality, diversity & inclusion (ED&I). Use tools like GenAI to explore these areas (and more) in depth. While there’s a wealth of information available, focus on what aligns with your personal values and motivations. The more tailored your research is now, the more confident and prepared you’ll feel during interviews.
- Reflect on what you want out of a career and role. Consider aspects such as skills development, day to day tasks, progression, client work, sector interests and more!
- Use GenAI to help identify the key skills required for the role. Once you have a list, reflect on your own experiences (academic, professional, or personal) and think about how you’ve demonstrated these skills. Be specific and authentic in your examples. Personalising your responses will help you stand out and show interviewers what makes you unique.
- Leverage GenAI for grammar and spelling, but always do your own check too.
3. Online Assessments
Our online assessments are designed for us to learn more about you, your skills, abilities and potential. As such, it’s important that you complete these without the use of GenAI. After all, we want to ensure that the role aligns to your own strengths.
Our provider uses proctoring tools to detect misuse, including detection of screen captures and external assistance.
If you’re unsure on what psychometric tests involve, GenAI can be a useful tool to understand what they are, how they assess and the typical structure.
Want to get a head start? You can practice the General Ability Test here, selecting the ‘General Ability Test (Mobile-Enabled, Interactive)’ from the practice assessment.
4. Early Careers interview
Take some time to review our job vacancies and think about what makes a successful candidate. You can then use GenAI to help with your interview preparation, for example, by generating mock interview questions that you can practise answering using your own real experiences, achievements, and interests.
If you’re invited to an interview, we’ll also share helpful guides to support your preparation.
While it’s fine to refer to pre-prepared notes, using live AI assistance during the interview isn’t allowed, as it compromises the integrity of the process. People are our most valuable asset, and we want to get to know you and your individual strengths.
5. Interview Day
As with the first stage Early Careers interview, GenAI will not be permitted during the in-person Interview Day. This extends to all exercises, including the case study and Senior Leadership interview. As before, GenAI may be used prior to attending the Interview Day to help you prepare.
Where we use GenAI as an Early Careers Talent Acquisition team:
We want to be as transparent as possible as to where we use GenAI within our application and assessment process as an Early Careers Talent Acquisition team.
Currently, ADM (Automated Decision Making) is not used in our recruitment and assessment process. All decisions across the full process are made by human assessors.
Remember, GenAI is just a tool and you are the real value. We’re excited to learn more about your unique journey, and we hope this guide helps you feel confident and prepared throughout the process.
