Saffery’s Bournemouth office welcomed senior finance leaders from a diverse mix of sectors from across Dorset and Hampshire to a highly successful technical seminar held on Thursday 22 January 2026 at AFC Bournemouth.

The event, which ran from 8.00am to 11.00am, attracted over 30 guests and formed part of Saffery’s continued programme of finance director seminars following the success of its inaugural series last year.

Chaired by Senior Partner Roger Wareham, the session featured eight expert speakers from across the Saffery business, including guest speakers from the London office, providing attendees with a comprehensive and practical update on key accounting, tax and finance developments affecting corporate entities.

Commenting on the event, Roger Wareham, Partner at Saffery, said, “We were delighted with the excellent turnout and the level of engagement from attendees. The event demonstrated the value of bringing together practical insight and technical expertise. The feedback has already been really positive, and it was encouraging to see such strong interest in the issues currently facing senior finance professionals.”

The seminar covered a wide range of topical issues, including FRS 102 amendments and Companies House reforms, with practical guidance on applying the new five-step model, lease accounting, changes for small entities under Section 1A, transition planning, and updates relating to ECCTA and Companies House reforms.

Attendees also received updates on the future of corporate tax, including measures announced in the Chancellor’s Budget, the tax implications of the aforementioned FRS 102 changes effective from 1 January 2026, and developments in the UK transfer pricing regime under the Government’s Corporate Tax Roadmap.

Additional sessions included a VAT update covering the importance of the basics when it comes to VAT reporting referencing recent case law, the definition of an ‘establishment’ for VAT purposes and the VAT implications of inheritance tax changes. The programme also explored the upcoming mandation of payrolling benefits (BIKs), offering practical insight into registration and client experiences, alongside a session on cloud accounting and technology in the finance function, focusing on automation, scalable accounting platforms, and building a fit-for-purpose finance team.

Saffery will continue to run its senior finance professional seminar series at locations across the UK throughout the year. To find out more, email: [email protected]
