Saffery strengthens sustainability and ESG offering with director hire

Saffery has appointed Alastair Loasby as Director of Sustainability and ESG, enhancing the firm’s capabilities to support businesses with their sustainability commitments, innovation and compliance.

Alastair brings extensive experience of advising organisations on their ESG risks and opportunities, and creating business value by embedding sustainability into their strategies and operations. He began his career as an advisor at a Big Four firm and most recently served as Director of Strategy, Insights and Innovation at Business in the Community, the UK’s largest and longest-established responsible business network. He works with organisations across sectors – from multinational, listed companies to fast-growing start-ups – and at all stages of their sustainability journeys, from developing emerging strategies to managing complex reporting requirements.

As Director of Sustainability and ESG, Alastair will help clients to design commercial sustainability strategies, guide and accelerate implementation, and develop tailored reports and disclosures aligned with international standards such as ISSB and ESRS. He will also support ESG regulatory compliance, lead capability-building initiatives, and advise organisations on responding to stakeholder expectations and sustainability trends.

The appointment forms part of Saffery’s ongoing investment in its Sustainability and ESG services, which include ESG reporting and assurance, ESG due diligence, carbon accounting & transition planning, and natural capital recognition.

Highly knowledgeable and passionate about sustainability in business, Alastair is a recognised industry voice, regularly speaking at conferences and engaging with the media. He also serves as an adviser to senior leadership teams, helping them embed sustainability into decision-making and day-to-day operations.
