Staff from the Bournemouth office of Saffery recently came together in Lyme Regis to host a netwalking event to celebrate and support the Stampede by the Sea, a vibrant community art trail in aid of Weldmar Hospicecare.
The team enjoyed a scenic walk through the town and along the promenade, visiting 11 of the striking elephant sculptures placed throughout Lyme Regis — including the firm’s very own sponsored elephant. Friends and partners of the business were invited to join the walk, including colleagues from Lloyds Bank, Preston Redman, Trethowans and Weldmar Hospicecare. Everyone then gathered for a relaxed lunch at Swim Restaurant.
Running from 28th March to 27th May 2025, the trail showcases 30 beautifully designed elephant sculptures across Lyme Regis, Bridport and West Bay. Created by local artists and supported by businesses such as Saffery, the initiative aims to raise vital funds for Weldmar Hospicecare, which provides compassionate end-of-life care to adults across Dorset, as well as support for their families.
At the close of the trail, the large elephant sculptures will be auctioned at the Corn Exchange in Dorchester, with proceeds going to Weldmar Hospicecare.
Casidhe Baleri, Partner at Saffery, said:
“Saffery is honoured to be part of such a meaningful project. ‘Stampede by the Sea’ is about more than art; it’s about bringing the community together to support Weldmar’s invaluable work. We’re thrilled to be involved and it was a real joy to bring together some of our staff and contacts to experience some of the herd in person.”
The project also features a collection of baby elephant sculptures, permanently installed in schools and learning centres across the region, helping to create lasting community connections with Weldmar’s mission.
Fiona Hansford, Head of Fundraising at Weldmar Hospicecare, added:
“We are delighted that Saffery is supporting Stampede by the Sea, and that their whole team is engaged with our art trail.”
