30 September – Impact of changes to employment practices

Many employees’ place of work has changed since 2020, whether that is just working from home or moving to a mixture of home and office working. So what are the potential impacts of these changes from a tax perspective?

We look at the exemptions available, impacts to benefits such as cycle-to-work schemes and whether benefit packages are still what employees need, and the implications where employees are working abroad. We have also had the introduction in April 2021 of the new off payroll working rules (IR35) and the well reported Uber tax case on worker status, so we discuss how these have impacted the way employees are engaged and what the key issues are to consider.
