Nick Hall

Nick advises a variety of clients but with a specialism in sport and specifically football.

Operating from our Manchester office he works closely with both corporate and individual clients including players as well as other professionals working in the sport.

Nick’s clients include over 100 professional footballers at various levels of the game, retired players and pundits, as well as agents, managers and stars from other sports including rugby and cricket.

Nick works closely with his clients, and their wider circles, to maintain a holistic view of their affairs and ensure he is best placed to offer advice on their personal and business tax affairs.


Key experience

  • Expert in relation to the payment of football intermediary fees, advising players, clubs, and agencies on the application of HMRC policy in relation to both transfers and contract re-negotiation,
  • Advice in relation to commercial structuring, image rights and utilising surplus funds for investment or tax efficient extraction,
  • Working with clients after their playing careers and advising on optimising efficiency for media work,
  • Extensive experience of negotiating with HMRC to close tax investigations of both retained clients and parties seeking specific advice.

Interests

Nick lives in the centre of Manchester with his wife and enjoys spending time in and around the city with family and friends. He is a big Man United and Denver Broncos fan, and has more recently developed an interest in the NBA, but has not yet settled on a team. Outside sport he loves to travel, especially visiting friends in the US.
