Saffery has appointed Tom Williams as Client Development Manager, North, as it continues to invest in strengthening client relationships and supporting sustainable growth.

Based in Saffery’s Leeds city centre office on Wellington Place, with a remit for Northern regions, Tom brings more than a decade of commercial and business development experience across professional services and client-focused industries. Most recently at national law firm Freeths LLP, he led business development activity across multiple service lines and sectors, working closely with partners to identify growth opportunities, strengthen intermediary and referrer relationships, and support revenue growth.

He has expertise in developing strategic referral networks, client relationship management and sector-led growth initiatives, with experience spanning the energy and real estate sectors. Throughout his career, he has worked with senior stakeholders to identify commercial opportunities, drive cross-selling initiatives and deliver targeted business development.

Tom said: “What really attracted me to Saffery was the strength of its client relationships and the ambition for further growth. There’s a fantastic opportunity to build on what the team has already achieved across the North, and I’m looking forward to working with partners and colleagues to strengthen existing relationships, develop new ones and create opportunities for the firm.

“For me, good business development is about understanding our clients, connecting the right people and creating genuine value. I’m excited to bring that approach to Saffery and get to know the teams.”

Richard Crook, Marketing and Business Development Director at Saffery said: “Tom brings a strong track record of building relationships, identifying opportunities and working collaboratively with senior stakeholders to drive growth. His experience across professional services and his focus on creating long-term value for clients and referrers makes him a valuable addition to our client development team.”

Tom will work closely with David Melloy, who was appointed national head of client development in April, alongside Richard Crook, Saffery’s marketing and business development director, and Emma Lane, who recently joined the firm as head of client development, South. He will also work closely with Saffery’s established 23-strong marketing and business development team.
