Saffery advises the Wickman family on the acquisition of Kinloch Lodge
Saffery is pleased to have advised the Wickman family on its acquisition of Kinloch Lodge, the historic Michelin Key hotel on the Isle of Skye. Kinloch Lodge has been owned by the MacDonald family since the 16th century and has operated as a hotel since 1972.
How Saffery helped
Saffery provided buy-side advisory services to the Wickman family throughout the transaction. Coll Murchison-MacDonald (Partner), Seb Cartwright (Partner) and Andrew Fraser (Senior Manager) led the financial workstreams and Saffery’s tax specialists led the tax due diligence and advisory aspects of the transaction. The transaction represents another example of Saffery’s experience advising entrepreneurial and family-owned businesses on strategic acquisitions.
About the acquisition
Located on the shores of Loch na Dal, Kinloch Lodge is an 18-bedroom hotel that has earned international recognition for its hospitality and dining, including a Michelin Key and being named the best hotel in Scotland in Condé Nast Traveller’s Readers’ Choice Awards 2025.
The acquisition further strengthens the Wickman family’s presence on the Isle of Skye, adding Kinloch Lodge to its existing hotel portfolio. With the acquisition, the family now owns and operates three hotels across the island.
