Infrastructure Engineer – IT – London/Bristol

We are looking for an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to join our growing IT team. This role can be based in either one of our London or Bristol offices.

To fulfill the role, we are looking for relevant technical knowledge and strong experience of troubleshooting and problem solving within a busy IT department. Excellent customer service, project management, organisational, prioritisation skills and time management skills are essential.

The role

This role will involve supporting the infrastructure including server, storage, network, data, and virtualised application delivery, as well as project-based work to improve and enhance the environment. We are looking for someone with a solid background working in a busy IT team; experience with implementing technical solutions, supporting of servers, networks, and end user devices.

The IT Infrastructure Engineer will work closely with other members of the team who will rely on this role for areas of responsibility on a day-to-day basis, i.e., End User Compute Analyst and Tier 1-3 Support Analysts.

The main focus on this role, will be to deliver 3rd line infrastructure support and to carry out improvements to the firm’s IT platform, whilst ensuring the current solutions meet the needs of the firm.

An out of hours rota is in place for the team, on Saturday, Sunday, and bank holidays between the hours of 08:00 and 17:00. This will rotate between the other Infrastructure team members, resulting in 1 week on, 4 to 5 weeks off. It will be expected that during times of illness and holiday this rota will be changed appropriately. Confirmation on the out of hours timings for this role will be determined at a later date.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, manage and maintain the firm’s corporate infrastructure including, Active Directory, LAN, Internet access, firewalls, servers, VMware and Nimble.
  • First point of contact for incidents escalated from the IT Service Desk team.
  • Administer Azure and Microsoft 365, including Microsoft Endpoint Manager, Exchange, Teams, AVD.
  • Manage software application, operating system deployment & patch management through Microsoft System Centre Configuration Manager Current Branch.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, including NetScalers & PVS.
  • Optimising performance of infrastructure services.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot server and network performance.

The team

The IT department is made up of a team of 16, which includes: an IT Manager, a Service Delivery Analyst, 3 x Application Team Members, 4 x Infrastructure Team Members, 4 x Financial Systems & Reporting Members, an IT Project Manager, an Enterprise Architect, and an IT Director.

The IT department, based in London and Bristol, is responsible for the provision of IT services and support to 10 offices across the UK.

This role will report to the Infrastructure Team Leader.

Technical Experience

It is preferable if you have experience in these technical areas of the role:

  • Microsoft Windows Server 2012R2/2016/2019 including clustering.
  • VMware vSphere 6.5+ including the using of Site Recovery Manager.
  • iSCSI/Fibre channel Storage Area Networks, such as Nimble.
  • Microsoft 365 Suite and Microsoft Azure.
  • Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM/SCCM) & Microsoft Endpoint Manager (Intune).
  • Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops 7.15+ and including integration with Hypervisor.
  • Citrix NetScaler MPX/VPX, Cisco switches and routers, Cisco Meraki.
  • LogicMonitor.
  • SQL Server 2014+ in a clustered environment.

Qualifications:

  • ITIL Foundation qualification is preferable.
  • Any other relevant IT qualifications.
  • Additional qualifications in Microsoft: Azure, O365, EndPoint Management or Cisco qualifications.

Salary/benefits

  • A 35-hour working week with flexibility around the core hours of 10am-4pm
  • Agile working policy giving you the option to work from home for up to 3 days per week.
  • Paid overtime or time off in lieu.
  • 25 days annual leave. After 5 years’ service, the entitlement will be increased by 1 day.
