Senior – Personal Tax – Manchester

We are looking for an experienced Tax Senior to join our growing and dynamic Manchester team who will be responsible for the personal tax affairs of a varied client portfolio.

The role

A successful candidate will be responsible for a portfolio of varied clients, including trusts, partnerships and non-UK domiciliaries. The role will include the preparation of complex and a diverse range of tax returns, preparing responses to client queries and assisting with advisory projects.

The role will involve supporting on training for more junior staff members. Depending on experience, the role may also include the reviewing of tax returns.

The role provides an excellent range of work for someone with a background in tax compliance wishing to broaden their experience with a dedicated “private client” firm with a diverse client base.

The team

You will be joining a very well-established team consisting of lots of managerial support. You will be working closely with, Senior Managers, Directors and Partners.

The Manchester office has experienced significant growth in recent years and as a result of that growth, recently relocated to a new, purpose designed office on John Dalton Street. The team is comprised of a variety of departments and specialists who provide a wide range of services both locally and nationally.

The Manchester office has 4 partners and over 80 staff, and continues to grow

The individual

The right candidate will be committed to a career in tax and have relevant experience in a personal tax role.

The successful applicant will have the ability to use their own initiative and to problem solve. In addition, they will possess excellent organisational and interpersonal skills, and provide accurate work in a timely and cost-effective manner. With this role, come the pre-requisite that the candidate is self-motivated, committed and flexible, a natural team player, with a positive and enthusiastic attitude and the ability to work with stretching targets and deadlines,

Previous experience of using tax return software is assumed, as is use of Word and Excel. Some knowledge of computerised accounts packages would be useful.

Applicants should be at least ATT qualified and preferably CTA qualified however there will be an opportunity to study for the CTA qualifications.

Salary/benefits

  • A 35-hour working week with flexibility around the core hours of 10am-4pm
  • Agile working policy giving you the option to work from home for up to 3 days per week.
  • Paid overtime or time off in lieu.
  • 25 days annual. After 5 years’ service, the entitlement will be increased by 1 day
  • In addition, employees are entitled to buy or sell up to 5 days holiday a year
  • Contributory pension scheme (The firm will contribute 5% of salary on a matched basis with employee from their date of joining)
  • Life assurance cover of 4 x annual salary,
  • Working from home allowance of £25 a month.
  • Eligibility for the firm’s Profit-Sharing Plan that runs from October to September each year. The scheme enables staff to share in the profits of the firm. Payment is usually c£1,000. Paid in December.
